Colleen Harshbarger is a certified health coach, wellness professional and yoga teacher who is passionate about helping people live healthy, vibrant, and authentic lives. She has over 20 years of yogic exploration, graduate degree in exercise science/biomechanics, and professional experience leading wellbeing movements to help individuals and organizations thrive.  Colleen weaves together her understanding of yoga, mindfulness and whole-person wellbeing to give clients practical tools to fully optimize health, vitality, and connection.  She is an experienced registered yoga teacher and continuing education provider with Yoga Alliance, a certified Wellness Inventory coach, and a certified wellness professional with the National Wellness Institute. She also serves on the board of directors for the National Consortium for Building Healthy Academic Communities.

Colleen has presented at numerous national and state conferences and participated in the inaugural World Wellness Project Summit in Melbourne, Australia.

Professional Leadership

Colleen has extensive experience leading comprehensive, integrated approaches for creating cultures of wellbeing in higher education, government and for-profit organizations. She advocated for, established, and directed Reebok International’s award-winning employee wellness program from 1987 – 1993.

Colleen also initiated and led the development of a comprehensive student wellbeing program, LiveWELL for WELLWVU at West Virginia University. Her department won national and federal grants for applying the socio-ecological model to create a culture of health. 

Under Colleen's leadership, Greater Morgantown and West Virginia University became the first accredited Safe Communities in the United States, with a joint municipality and university designation by the National Safety Council.  The experiential-based curriculum that Colleen and colleague Shannon Foster developed for an academic course, Enhancing Wellbeing, using the Wellness Inventory platform, won the AETNA award for wellness innovation from the American College Health Association.

Yoga Teacher

Colleen started teaching yoga in 1994 and has studied with esteemed national and international teachers including Patricia Walden, Dean Lerner, Sianna Sherman, Judith Hanson Lasater, Seanne Corn, and John Friend.  She is an Experienced Registered Yoga Teacher (ERYT-500) and a Continuing Education Provider (YACEP) with Yoga Alliance.  Colleen completed training in Trauma Sensitive Yoga with David Anderson in 2014.  She currently teaches academic yoga courses at West Virginia University and community classes at BlissBlissBliss and Natural Resilience.
